For this No Kings protest, I went up to the Cedar Valley Community School up in Lynnwood with Sarah and Dave. We had just started across the field, when Rozann Grunig, one of the South Snohomish County Indivisible organizers spotted my little camera and asked for pics. They had spread out the tents and stage expecting a bigger crowd than the rainy morning delivered. A singer was on stage across the field, I grabbed a nearby step lader and I got a quick shot before the crowd filled in, but sadly I haven't found out who she is. It was another fun positive protest, with many great signs and thoughtful good caring folks, and pickles. South Snohomish County Indivisible were the main organizers, and they brought a diverse group of good speakers and the Singing Resistance, a nationwide group inspired by singers in Minneapolis. Speakers included Lynnwood Mayor George Hurst with his wife Pam signing, Pastor Joseph Kim from Bothell United Methodist Church, Activist Donnie Griffen of Lift Every Voice Legacy. Enthusiastic young speakers were Josh Binda who really warmed up the crowd, and Makayla Chappell and Hasset Kassa from the Lynnwood Youth Council, with the banner for the march. What a good crowd for a grey day, and so nice to see younger folks involved amidst all the grey heads!
