Pierre, a good friend and client called me Friday morning asking for help. He had made arrangements with his son Remi and Kelly, Remi's wife to move Amelia Saturday. He had fallen and asked me to take his very nice Little Harbour 44 from Bremerton to the John Wayne Marina in Sequim Bay. I had never been to Sequim by boat, but had been aboard his boat, helped take the boat to Bremerton and knew he had a good Garmin chart plotter at the helm. I ducked out of tennis, wrangled gear, and took the bus downtown, close to the ferry system. The Ferry was late and I arrived at Amelia about 9PM. Pierre went through boat systems with me, and Remi and Kelly returned after a movie. We were off the dock about 6 AM to catch the current push. Remi and Kelly did a little cleaning and we flew through Agate Pass at 10 knots. South of Kingston we saw a few of the WA360 racers rowing. Just North of Point No Point we caught up to Tom and Jan on their Island Packet 35, MoonStar. We made such good time, we were docked about 12:30 in Point Hudson Marina, Port Townsend with Carol and Pierre there to meet us. Leaving about 8AM Sunday, we hugged the shore and were around Pt. Wilson quickly. No wind in the strait, so we motored past the kelp snakes (thanks Jim) and headed for McCurdy Point and Protection Island. Carol went with us on this leg of the trip to Sequim Bay. I got one shot of the narrow approach on the chartplotter, and soon we were docked, not without a little "drama". Pierre had hand-drawn me a little map of the slip. I was looking down the narrow fairway for the open slip, when he yelled - as I passed him. Just a little bit of jostling and we were docked, cleaned up and at the head of the dock just after 11am. Wow what a quick trip. I only took one odd pic after we loaded up to the cars, close to one I made ages ago. Remi drove us back to Seattle an even quicker trip. What a fine time on the water, even if we had to motor all the way. Thank you all!
