Seattle, WA
Grant came up from Olympia to pick up his new boat, Fred and Ann's Catalina 320. He had never been through the locks, so I went with him. Two or three crew are seriously recommended at the Hiram M. Chittenden, Ballard Locks, but first we had to open the University Bridge, Freemont Bridge, and the Ballard Bridge. We used all three horns to signal the bridges, and I will remember to get a new can of air before the next trip! The big powerboat Aqua Villa raced past us to clear the Freemont bridge with maybe 6-8". We waited for each bridge, and all had to wait for the big locks; the big factory fishing boat, small pusher tug and barge, the big Western Gulf Titan, plastic powerboat, and finally the little Catalina with dinghy in tow. What a parade! It started really raining in the locks, and by the time we got to the Shilshole guest docks, we were wet. . .
Thank you all!
