Vaporware Trip

Here at last are pics from the Friday Harbor to Astoria delivery trip of Rick's Yamaha 33, newly named "Vaporware". Loading up Bob's wagon on Wednesday we headed off to Anacortes and the ferry to Friday Harbor. We provisioned for our trip and spent the night at the dock. Thursday we motor sailed to Neah Bay, arriving just in time to get fuel, and anchored out for the night. Friday we headed out the strait. Don was so excited to be on his first "offshore trip", and happy to drive. With light winds and lumpy seas, we ended up motoring South. Over the shelf, it was a very lumpy bumpy trip. Did I mention it was really lumpy? The first couple days are always a challenge, and most felt pretty sick. Slowing the boat down, I ended up with an all nighter, mostly off Grays Harbor with a few fishing boats around us. Slowly crew patches started catching up, and late Saturday afternoon we were able to sail to the Astoria buoy, for the Columbia Bar entrance. We timed it to arrive at a high slack, an easy entrance. Check out the wild cloud shot just outside. By the time we got to Astoria it was dark, and the "land" food was in a local bar, quite a shock after the quiet and space offshore. It was a tough, lumpy trip, but a delight to be offshore again. . .
